Awesome in its beauty, Mid Ocean Club administers the classic test - good shots are rewarded, bad shots are penalized. The course's 6.512 yards heighten the long game - six par 4s exceeds 400 yards; there's even a 238 yard par 3. It was a par-71 layout, over 600 acres of rolling countryside, 6,519 yards from the back tees. MacDonald won the first US Amateur Golf Championship in 1895 and later designed the National Golf Course in the USA. The course first opened in 1922. Ralph A. The Mid Ocean Club, located in scenic Tucker's Town, is home to one of the greatest golf courses in the world. Built in 1921, by architect Charles Blair Macdonald, and gently modified by Robert Trent Jones, in the 1950's, the course has been graced by the presence of Dwight Eisenhower, Sir Winston Churchill, The Duke of Windsor, George Bush and Babe Ruth, to name just a few. It has also been the venue on the PGA Tour, in recent years, and has challenged some of the great names in golf today.
