Don’t forget to lock the door!!!

Don’t forget to lock the door……

Those 6 little words that we say once leaving our homes. You know “our” homes, the ones we would like to come home to without anything being stolen, or heaven forbid, catch someone in the house. Yikes!

You know, I am a stay at home mom of 4 kids, my husband works outside the home and at nights, which is even scarier for me, what would happen if someone broke in? What would I do? Well, first of all, I am not as helpless as I sound, but many stay at home moms could possible feel very vulnerable in my situation.

So, here’s what needs to be done. Lock the door!!!! I can’t put enough emphasis on this, it’s so simple. Making sure all windows are shut, even in a 2-story home. If you have an alarm system set up with a company, turn it on before you leave and when you come home before bed.

Keep a phone near your bed just in case and if you are comfortable with it, keep a small handgun near where you sleep, accessible to you but not your kids. Another pretty awesome idea, get a dog, small or big, doesn’t matter, once the dog is comfortable with all the sounds in your house, he or she, will make a great alarm system. I know my chi-weenie sure does. He lets me know if someone knocks, if he hears a car pull up, and at night he sleeps beside our bedrooms. I am not saying go out and buy a dog, a gun, or home security system, but they are great suggestions.

But let’s get serious…..

There are many ways to protect your home from intruders, like I have already mentioned, but the only real way to protect your home is to be prepared. And installing a good cellular security system is a great first step.¬†All you have to do is find the right company that works best for you, get it setup in your home and voila, you are protected, even when you are at your child’s recital, or at a company meeting.

I invested in a security system about 3 years ago and I love it. I feel safe. Isn’t that what we all want, to feel safe and protected. It’s that great feeling of knowing that no matter what, your home is protected. You don’t have to be there waiting for the bad stuff to happen. You can go about your day feeling safe. Your kids can sleep through the night knowing that not only can mom and dad are there but, people that work for the security companies are there, so to speak.

Also, I forgot to mention, you can always install home security cameras inside and outside of the home. They work great. So, the next time you are thinking about the safety of your family, keep in mind, there are many great and easy ways to protect yourself and your family, whether it be the new dog, or brand new security system, or even a gun, be sure to make sure you research all the best and easiest ways for your family. And remember, always be prepared!
